Prompts
Manage the prompts AnswerixAI tracks in AI engines, see each prompt's visibility, mentions and citations, and add prompts from AI suggestions.
Updated
The AnswerixAI Prompts page is where you manage the prompts AnswerixAI tracks in AI answer engines and see how each one performs. A prompt is a question a potential customer might ask an AI engine, such as "best project management tools for startups". This guide is for anyone who adds, reviews or prioritizes tracked prompts. Open Prompts in the sidebar (/dashboard/prompts).
What are the tabs on the Prompts page?
The AnswerixAI Prompts page has three tabs: Prompts for your tracked prompts, their performance and prompt suggestions, Query Fan-out for the searches AI engines ran while answering them, and Insights for estimated monthly AI search demand.
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Prompts | Your tracked prompts and their performance, or prompt suggestions. |
| Query Fan-out | The searches AI engines ran while answering your prompts. See Query Fan-out. |
| Insights | Estimated monthly search demand for your prompts. |
The header also has Add prompt, Export CSV and Manage prompts buttons. Add prompt and Export CSV appear on the Prompts tab. Export CSV exports the tracked prompts list.
On the Prompts and Query Fan-out tabs, a Date Range filter sets the period for the numbers: 24h (default), 7d, 30d, 90d or Custom, up to 90 days. When your brand has results in more than one location, a Location filter also appears on the Prompts tab.
What does the tracked prompts table show?
The AnswerixAI tracked prompts table, in the Tracked Prompts view of the Prompts tab, lists every prompt with its topic, status, work state, visibility score (0–100), mentions, citations, estimated monthly AI volume, competition and last run. The numbers cover the selected date range, and you can sort by visibility, mentions, citations, volume and last run.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Prompt | The prompt text. Click it to open the prompt detail page. |
| Topic | The topic the prompt belongs to. |
| Status | Active (tracked in each run) or Paused. |
| Work | Your team's workflow state for the prompt: To do, In progress or Done. Click to set it. |
| Visibility | The prompt's visibility score (0–100) over the selected period. Hover for its components. |
| Mentions | How many times AI answers mentioned your brand for this prompt. |
| Citations | How many times AI answers cited your pages for this prompt. |
| Volume | Estimated monthly AI prompt volume. Empty until the prompt is analyzed. |
| Competition | Google Ads competition for related keywords (low, medium or high), a proxy for how hard the topic is. |
| Last run | The most recent tracking run for the prompt. |
You can sort by Visibility, Mentions, Citations, Volume and Last run. Use Search prompts… to filter by prompt or topic text, and the work filter (All work, To do, In progress, Done, No status) to see prompts by workflow state. Admins and managers also see an Edit column.
How do I add a prompt?
- On the Prompts tab, click Add prompt.
- Enter the prompt text.
- Choose a Topic.
- Under Platform & Models, choose the AI platforms that should track it. Only the platforms in your plan are listed.
- Click Add Prompt to save.
The dialog shows how many tracked prompts you have used on your plan. AnswerixAI then analyzes the new prompt right away if your plan's on-demand limit allows it. Otherwise the prompt is picked up by the next daily tracking run.
The Add Prompt dialog has no region picker. A new prompt is tracked in your brand's region (or its state, if one is set). To track it in other locations, use Locations on the Manage prompts page.
How do I edit or delete a prompt?
On the Prompts tab, click the edit icon in a prompt's Edit column. You can change the text, topic and platforms, turn Active — included in tracking runs on or off, or delete the prompt. Changes apply from the next tracking run, and past results stay attached to the prompt. Deleting a prompt also deletes its tracking history.
What can you do on the Manage prompts page?
Click Manage prompts to open the brand's prompt management page (/dashboard/brands/{brand}/prompts). Admins and managers can make changes; other roles see it read-only.
- Add Prompt: add a prompt with text, Topic and Platform & Models.
- AI Generate: select topics, then click Generate Prompts. AnswerixAI writes 5 optimized search prompts per topic. Review them under Review AI Suggestions, switch off the ones you don't want, edit the text if needed, and click Save Selected.
- All Prompts: every prompt, newest first. Change each prompt's text, topic, platforms, locations and active state, or delete it.
- Locations: select prompts, then add or remove tracking locations for all of them at once. A removal that would leave a prompt with no location is skipped.
- Analyze Prompts: shows prompts that have never been run (with a count such as 3 new). Select them and run them now instead of waiting for the next daily run.
How do prompt suggestions work?
AnswerixAI prompt suggestions are 6 to 12 new prompt ideas that your brand doesn't track yet, each with a topic, a reason and, when available, an estimated monthly volume. To see them, switch from Tracked Prompts to Prompt Suggestions on the Prompts tab. Each suggestion shows:
- The prompt text.
- A topic label, reusing your topics where they fit.
- A reason explaining why the prompt matters.
- An estimated monthly volume, when one is available.
- Its source: Answerix Agents always, plus Google Search Console or Google Analytics (GA4) when the idea came from your own data.
When you connect Google Search Console or GA4, AnswerixAI also turns your real search queries and landing pages into suggestions. Use the source filter to show All sources, one data source, or Answerix Agents only.
To act on suggestions:
- Click + (Add to tracked prompts) to start tracking a suggestion.
- Click the dismiss button to remove one, or Clear All to dismiss every listed suggestion.
- Click New to generate a fresh set.
Each set of suggestions is generated with a 48-hour lifetime, but the list keeps showing the current set until you replace it. Click New every day or two to keep the ideas fresh; generating a new set replaces the suggestions you haven't added or dismissed.
How is prompt volume estimated?
AnswerixAI estimates prompt volume on the Insights tab with Built-in Search Intelligence. It extracts 5 search keywords from each prompt, looks up their monthly Google search volume in your brand's region and language, and multiplies the total by an AI adoption rate of 15%. Step by step:
- AnswerixAI extracts 5 search keywords from each prompt and classifies its search intent.
- It looks up the monthly Google search volume for those keywords in your brand's region and language.
- It multiplies the total by an AI adoption rate of 15% to estimate monthly AI volume.
Est. AI Volume = total Google search volume of extracted keywords × AI adoption rate (15%)
Volumes are estimates for planning, not exact figures.
How do I run a volume analysis?
You run an AnswerixAI volume analysis from the Insights tab with one of four buttons: Analyze Volumes, Analyze New Prompts, Re-analyze Keywords or Refresh Volumes. Each run counts as one analysis against your plan's monthly quota.
- Analyze Volumes analyzes every active prompt when you have no volume data yet.
- Analyze New Prompts analyzes active prompts that have no volume data.
- Re-analyze Keywords extracts keywords again for every active prompt.
- Refresh Volumes fetches fresh search volumes for keywords you already have.
Each run counts as one analysis against your plan's monthly quota. The toolbar shows how many analyses you have left. The quota resets when your subscription renews.
| Plan | Volume analyses per month |
|---|---|
| Starter | 4 |
| Growth | 4 |
| Business | 10 |
| Enterprise | Custom |
Your first volume estimate after checkout runs automatically and doesn't count against the quota.
What does the Insights tab show?
The AnswerixAI Insights tab shows four summary cards, a Prompt Volumes chart and table, Similar Topics keyword clusters, and High Opportunity Prompts with an estimated AI volume of 5,000 or more per month.
- Summary cards: Prompts Analyzed, Total Est. AI Volume, AI Adoption Rate and Avg. AI Volume.
- Prompt Volumes: a chart of total estimated AI volume split by answer engine, and a table with each prompt's Google volume, estimated AI volume and intent.
- Similar Topics: the most-searched keyword clusters across all prompts.
- High Opportunity Prompts: prompts with an estimated AI volume of 5,000 or more per month.
What search intents does AnswerixAI use?
AnswerixAI gives each analyzed prompt, and each fan-out search, one of eight search intents: Comparison, How-to, What is, Best / Top, vs. / Review, Recommendation, Problem Solving or Other.
| Intent | Example prompt shape |
|---|---|
| Comparison | Comparing options in a category |
| How-to | How to do or solve something |
| What is | What something is or means |
| Best / Top | The best or top options |
| vs. / Review | One product versus another, or a review |
| Recommendation | Asking for a recommendation |
| Problem Solving | Fixing a specific problem |
| Other | Anything else |
What is on the prompt detail page?
The AnswerixAI prompt detail page shows one prompt's Visibility Score, Mentions and Citations, its Platform Results run by run, the Top Sources AI platforms cite for it, and its work status. Click a prompt to open it. The page contains:
- Visibility Score, Mentions and Citations for the prompt, with a Date Range filter.
- Platform Results: each AI platform's runs, with mentions, citations, sentiment and visibility for every run. Click the eye icon on a run to read the full answer on its result page.
- Top Sources: the domains and URLs AI platforms cite when answering this prompt, on Domains and URLs tabs.
- The prompt's work status, which you can change here too.
How many prompts can you track?
AnswerixAI Starter and Growth each track 50 prompts, Business tracks 200 plus 50 for each extra brand add-on, and Enterprise is custom. The limit is shared by all brands in your organization.
| Plan | Tracked prompts |
|---|---|
| Starter | 50 |
| Growth | 50 |
| Business | 200, plus 50 for each extra brand add-on |
| Enterprise | Custom |
Each location a prompt is tracked in counts once, so a prompt tracked in two locations uses two of your prompts. When you reach the limit, the Add Prompt dialog tells you to remove a prompt or upgrade your plan.
