AI Readability

Generate llms.txt and 10 companion files from a verified business profile, host them with AnswerixAI, and serve them from your own domain.

Updated

AnswerixAI AI Readability generates llms.txt and ten other machine-readable files about your business, so AI answer engines can cite accurate facts about you. You fill in a verified business profile once, AnswerixAI writes the files from it, hosts them, and keeps them at a stable URL you can serve from your own domain.

It's for any brand that wants AI engines to find its services, locations, hours, contact details and FAQs in a format built for them. Open it from AI Readability in the sidebar. It works on the brand currently selected in the sidebar.

The page has four tabs: Business Profile, Generate & Files, Schedule & Notifications and Hosting Setup.

Which files does AI Readability generate?

Every AnswerixAI AI Readability generation produces the same 11 files: llms.txt, llms-full.txt, business-profile.json, business.jsonld, contact.json, services.json, service-areas.json, faq.json, knowledge-base.md, ai-summary.md and sitemap-ai.xml. Only llms.txt and llms-full.txt are written with AI; the other nine are built directly from your business profile.

File What it contains
llms.txt An AI-written summary of your business in the llms.txt format, with a link to the full profile.
llms-full.txt A longer AI-written profile: overview, services, locations, hours, pricing notes, FAQs and contact details.
business-profile.json Your complete business profile as JSON.
business.jsonld Schema.org LocalBusiness structured data (JSON-LD) with your name, description, contact details, primary address and service areas.
contact.json Your contact methods.
services.json Your services.
service-areas.json The cities or regions you serve.
faq.json Your FAQs, as structured entries plus Markdown, HTML and plain-text versions.
knowledge-base.md A Markdown fact sheet: business identity, services, locations and service areas.
ai-summary.md A one-paragraph summary of your business.
sitemap-ai.xml A sitemap that lists your website and the other 10 hosted files.

AnswerixAI writes llms.txt and llms-full.txt with AI, using your business profile, the text of your homepage and your latest Site Audit score when you have one. If the AI step fails, AnswerixAI builds both files from your profile with a fixed template instead, so your hosted files are never left empty. The other nine files are built directly from your profile, without AI.

How do I fill in the business profile?

The Business Profile tab is the source of truth for every file. The brand name, primary domain and description come from your brand. To change them, or the brand's industry, region and language, go to brand settings.

Fill in the sections that apply to your business:

  • Business identity: Legal name, Business type and Categories.
  • Working hours: opening and closing times for each day, or mark a day Closed or 24 hours.
  • Services: a name, category, short description, Emergency available and optional price notes for each service.
  • Locations: physical addresses. If you add any locations, exactly one must be marked Primary location.
  • Service areas: the cities or regions you serve.
  • Contact & social: phone, email and website contact methods, plus Social links.
  • FAQs: questions and answers. If you leave this empty, AnswerixAI creates a few FAQs from your services, service areas and phone number.

Click Save profile when you're done. Saving the profile for the first time also creates your hosted file URL.

How do I generate the files?

  1. Save your business profile.
  2. Make sure the brand has a primary domain in brand settings.
  3. Open the Generate & Files tab and click Generate files.

Generation runs in the background, and the button shows Generating… until it finishes. Only one generation can run at a time for each brand. When it completes, Latest files lists all 11 files with their type and size. Click a file to open a read-only preview.

Generation history lists your recent runs with their status (Running, Completed or Failed), the domain, whether the run was Manual or Scheduled, and when it ran. AnswerixAI keeps run history for 30 days, but always keeps the latest completed run, because that's the one your hosted URLs serve.

How do I regenerate the files?

Click Generate files again at any time, or set up automatic regeneration. Each new completed run replaces the files served at your hosted URLs straight away. You don't need to redeploy anything on your website.

How do I regenerate on a schedule?

  1. Open the Schedule & Notifications tab.
  2. Turn on Enable scheduled generation.
  3. Choose a Frequency: Once, at a specific date & time, Weekly, Every 2 days or Monthly.
  4. Set the Time of day, plus the Day of week for weekly runs, the Day of month for monthly runs, or the date and time in Run at for a one-off run.
  5. Click Save schedule.

The tab then shows the Next run time. For a monthly schedule on a day a month doesn't have, such as the 31st, the run happens on the month's last day.

A one-off schedule turns itself off after it runs. Each scheduled run counts toward your monthly quota. A scheduled run is skipped if a generation is already running for the brand or your quota has run out.

Can I get an email when a generation finishes?

Yes. AnswerixAI AI Readability can email you when a generation succeeds or fails. Under Email notifications on the Schedule & Notifications tab, failure emails are on by default and success emails are off:

  • Email me on successful generation is off by default.
  • Email me on failed generation is on by default.
  • Notification email (optional) sends the emails to a different address. If you leave it empty, emails go to the person who created the schedule or started the run.

Click Save schedule to keep your choices. Failed generations are also reported to the AnswerixAI support team automatically.

How do I serve the files from my own domain?

To serve AI Readability files from your own domain, add a reverse proxy rule on your website that forwards /llms.txt to the URL where AnswerixAI hosts the latest completed version. The hosted URL looks like this:

https://<app host>/ai/<your-token>/llms.txt

Copy your exact base URL from the Hosting Setup tab. Every file is served from the same base URL, so business.jsonld is at .../ai/<your-token>/business.jsonld, and so on.

AI engines look for llms.txt at the root of your own domain, such as https://example.com/llms.txt. To put it there, add a reverse proxy rule on your website that forwards the request to your hosted URL. The Hosting Setup tab shows ready-to-copy snippets with your URL already filled in for:

  • Nginx
  • Apache
  • Cloudflare (a Worker)
  • Next.js (rewrites in next.config.js)

The Nginx snippet looks like this:

location = /llms.txt { proxy_pass https://<app host>/ai/<your-token>/llms.txt; proxy_ssl_server_name on; }
location = /llms-full.txt { proxy_pass https://<app host>/ai/<your-token>/llms-full.txt; proxy_ssl_server_name on; }

The snippets cover llms.txt and llms-full.txt. Add more rules in the same pattern for any other file you want to serve from your domain. After the proxy is live, https://<your domain>/llms.txt serves your generated file, and every regeneration updates it automatically.

How are the hosted files served?

AnswerixAI serves AI Readability files at public URLs that any AI crawler can read without logging in. Responses can be cached for up to 1 hour, each IP address can make up to 120 requests a minute, and the files stay available while your subscription is active.

  • The hosted URLs are public, so any AI crawler or tool can read them without logging in.
  • Responses can be cached for up to 1 hour, so after a regeneration a cached copy can take up to an hour to refresh.
  • Each IP address can make up to 120 requests a minute.
  • Files stay available while your subscription is active. If your subscription becomes inactive, the URLs return 410 Gone, which tells crawlers to drop them.

Which plans include AI Readability?

AnswerixAI AI Readability is included on every paid plan, with a monthly generation quota shared by manual and scheduled runs across your organization: 10 generations on Starter and Growth, 50 on Business, and custom on Enterprise.

Plan Generations per month
Starter 10
Growth 10
Business 50
Enterprise Custom

Only completed generations count. A failed run doesn't use your quota. The Generate & Files tab shows how many generations you have left, and the quota resets when your subscription renews. See Billing and plans for plan details.
