Add your first brand
Set up your first brand in AnswerixAI with the six-step wizard, from website and market to topics, prompts, competitors and your plan.
Updated
Adding your first brand is how you start tracking AI search visibility in AnswerixAI. A six-step setup wizard collects your brand details, target market, topics, prompts and competitors, then asks you to choose a plan. This guide is for the person setting up AnswerixAI and explains each step exactly as the wizard shows it.
What happens in the setup wizard?
The AnswerixAI setup wizard has six steps: set up your brand, select your target market, choose topics to monitor, review your prompts, add your competitors, and choose your plan. On a laptop or desktop screen each step sits in a card over a blurred preview of the dashboard you are setting up: the real navigation, placeholder metric cards, and your own setup filling in as you go (brand name, then website icon, topics, prompt count and competitors). The preview shows placeholder bars where metrics will go, never numbers, because nothing has been measured yet. On a phone the steps fill the screen without the preview. The steps are shown as dots at the bottom of each screen:
- Set up your brand: brand name, website and an optional description.
- Select your target market: region, optional US state, and language.
- Choose topics to monitor: pick from suggested topics or add your own.
- Review your prompts: 5 prompts per topic, which you can trim or add to.
- Add your competitors: confirm suggested competitors or add them by hand.
- Choose your plan: Starter, Growth or Business.
Every step after the first has a Back link, so you can return and change an earlier answer.
Step 1: Set up your brand
The first AnswerixAI setup screen asks for your Brand name, your Website domain and an optional Describe your brand description. The description helps AnswerixAI suggest better topics, prompts and competitors.
- Brand name: the name people and AI engines use for your brand, for example Acme Corp.
- Website: your domain, typed after the fixed
https://prefix, for exampleexample.com. If you paste a full URL, AnswerixAI keeps only the domain. - Describe your brand (optional): a short description. The wizard suggests covering what industry you are in and who your target audience is. The description helps AnswerixAI suggest better topics, prompts and competitors.
Continue stays disabled until you enter both a brand name and a website.
Step 2: Select your target market
In the second setup step you pick the region and language your audience uses. AnswerixAI offers 18 regions (the United States by default, with an optional state) and 13 languages (English by default).
- Region: one of 18 regions. The default is the United States.
- State (optional): shown only when the region is the United States. Choose a state to localize AI answers to it, or keep Nationwide (no state).
- Language: one of 13 languages. The default is English.
When you click Continue, AnswerixAI creates your organization and your brand. From this point your progress is saved. If you leave and come back, the wizard resumes where you stopped.
Step 3: Choose topics to monitor
A topic is a theme your customers ask AI engines about, such as pricing or a product category. AnswerixAI researches your brand and suggests between 6 and 12 topics, written in the language you chose. The first 7 suggestions are selected for you.
- Click a topic to select or deselect it.
- Type a name into Add custom topic... and click + to add your own topic.
- You can select up to 10 topics. The wizard creates 5 prompts per topic, so if your plan has room for fewer prompts, it lowers the topic limit to match. For example, 30 remaining prompts allow 6 topics.
Click Looks good to save the topics and generate prompts. If suggestions fail to load, click Try again or add your own topics.
Step 4: Review your prompts
AnswerixAI writes 5 prompts for each topic you kept. A prompt is a question a potential customer might ask an AI engine. The prompts are grouped by topic, and each group opens to show its prompts.
On this screen you can:
- Remove a prompt: hover over it and click the ×.
- Remove a whole topic: open the topic's ⋯ menu and choose Remove topic.
- Add your own prompt: type it into Enter new prompt... under a topic and press Enter or click the check mark. A prompt needs at least 10 characters.
You can't edit a generated prompt's text here. Remove it and add your own version instead. After setup, you can edit prompts on the Prompts page.
If your prompt list is longer than your plan allows, the wizard asks you to remove prompts before you can continue. Click Continue, the full-width button under the prompt list, to save the prompts. They run on the AI engines included in your plan.
Step 5: Add your competitors
AnswerixAI researches your market and suggests between 3 and 10 competitors. All suggestions start selected.
- Click a competitor to deselect or reselect it.
- Under Add manually, enter a Company name and an optional domain (for example
domain.com), then click +.
You need at least one selected competitor to continue. The button shows how many you picked, for example Start tracking with 4 competitors. Competitor tracking is included on every paid plan.
Step 6: Choose your plan
Choose Starter, Growth or Business. A toggle switches between monthly and yearly billing; a plan without a yearly price shows Monthly billing only.
First-time customers get a 14-day free trial: the button reads Start Free Trial, and your card isn't charged until the trial ends. If you have already used a trial, the button reads Subscribe and billing starts that day. Payment runs through Stripe. For more than 10 brands, contact sales from the link under the plans.
The plan decides which AI engines track your prompts:
| Plan | AI engines |
|---|---|
| Starter | ChatGPT and Perplexity |
| Growth and Business | ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, and Grok (currently paused) |
| Enterprise | Talk to sales. Claude is available on request. |
See Billing and plans for limits and pricing.
What happens after checkout?
After checkout, AnswerixAI matches your prompts to your plan's AI engines, starts your first tracking run, estimates search volumes for your prompts, and opens the Visibility page with a progress banner. In order, AnswerixAI:
- Matches your prompts to the AI engines your plan includes.
- Starts your first tracking run.
- Estimates search volumes for your prompts. This first estimate doesn't use your plan's volume analysis quota.
- Opens the Visibility page, where a banner shows the run's progress.
As soon as that first run completes, AnswerixAI runs one Action Center signal pass against it, so your first signals and actions appear right away instead of after the next night's run.
After the first run, AnswerixAI tracks your prompts once a day on every engine your plan includes.
How do I add the AI traffic snippet?
The setup wizard doesn't install anything on your website. To measure real visits that reach your site from AI answer engines, add the AnswerixAI tracking snippet to your site after setup. The AI Traffic Analytics guide explains where to find the snippet and how to install it.
Frequently asked questions
Why is an AI engine missing from my brand?
Your plan decides which engines run. Starter tracks ChatGPT and Perplexity. Growth and Business add Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews. Grok is part of Growth and Business but is currently paused.
Claude is available only on Enterprise, on request.
Can I add topics and prompts after setup?
Yes. On the Topics page, click Add Topic or accept an idea from Topic Suggestions. On the Prompts page, click Add prompt or switch to Prompt Suggestions. New prompts are tracked in the next daily run, or right away when your plan's on-demand limit allows it.
Why does my brand show 0 visibility at first?
A visibility of 0 means AI engines didn't mention or cite your brand in answers to your tracked prompts. This is common for new, niche or B2B brands. Visibility is calculated from mentions, citations and how early you are named. See Visibility scoring.
