AI Traffic Analytics
AI traffic analytics: see the visitors ChatGPT and other AI assistants send you
AI Traffic Analytics is AnswerixAI's tool for measuring the traffic AI assistants send to your website. One script tag recognises visits that arrive from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and other assistants. It reports each one by platform, landing page and country, so you can see which AI answers turn into real visits.

How do you track traffic from ChatGPT and other AI assistants?
Add one line of code to your site. From then on, every visit that starts in an AI answer is recognised in the visitor's browser and reported in AnswerixAI. We built the check around the HTTP referrer, the address a browser passes on to say which site sent the visitor, and UTM parameters, the tags such as utm_source that name a link's source.
Copy the snippet from the AI Traffic Analytics page in AnswerixAI and paste it before the closing </head> tag on every page. It loads with defer, sets no cookies and carries your brand’s tracking code, so there is nothing else to configure.

What does your AI referral traffic tell you?
AI referral traffic means the visits that arrive through a link in an AI answer. Those visits are the proof that AI answers do more than mention you. Break them down by platform and page, then find the pages AI is missing.

Named from the referrer each visit arrived with, e.g. chatgpt.com or perplexity.ai.
Referrals by platform ranks every AI assistant by the visits it sent in the date range you pick, from the last 24 hours to all time. Each one is compared with the previous period of the same length. You can see ChatGPT growing, Copilot slipping or a new source appearing for the first time.
Top landing pages lists the ten pages that received the most AI-referred visits, with the change on the previous period. These are the pages AI answers already link to and your buyers already open. Keep them accurate, current and easy to act on first.
Connect Google Analytics 4 and a nightly check lists your highest-value pages that got no AI-referred visit in the last 28 days. Pages are ranked by revenue, orders, conversions or engagement. Each shows why: answers cite it but nobody clicks, a tracked prompt targets it but no answer cites it, or nothing you track points there.
What does AnswerixAI record for each AI visit?
When we built the snippet, we kept it narrow: only visits that arrive from an AI assistant are sent. Other visitors are never recorded, and the snippet sets no cookies.
AI platform
The assistant the visit came from, taken from the referrer or from a utm_source that names it.
Landing page
The full URL the visitor landed on, grouped by path for the top landing pages report.
Referrer
The referring address the browser passed along, kept with the visit and included in the CSV export.
Time
When the visit happened, which feeds the daily trend and the comparison with the previous period.
Country
The approximate country of the visit, worked out from the request rather than asked of the visitor.
Request details
Standard web-request metadata: the IP address the beacon came from and the browser’s user agent, language and screen size.

FAQ
AI traffic analytics FAQ
AI traffic analytics measures the visits AI assistants send to your website. AnswerixAI AI Traffic Analytics recognises visitors who arrive from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and other assistants. It reports them by platform, landing page and country, with the change on the previous period, so you can see which AI answers turn into real traffic.
You paste one script tag into your site. When a page loads, the script checks the referrer: a visit from chatgpt.com or chat.openai.com, or a link whose utm_source names ChatGPT or OpenAI, is recorded as ChatGPT traffic. The same check covers the other assistants, and visits from anywhere else are never sent.
The snippet recognises visits referred by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Meta AI, You.com, Phind, Poe and Google Labs, plus Bing redirect links. It also accepts a utm_source that names ChatGPT, OpenAI, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot or Claude. Each visit is labelled with the platform it came from.
Only visits from an AI assistant are sent. Each one records the landing page URL, the referrer, the AI platform and the time, plus standard web-request metadata: the approximate country, the IP address, and the browser's user agent, language and screen size. The snippet sets no cookies, and the dashboard reports visits by platform, page and country.
No. The script is about 1.4 KB, loads with the defer attribute so it never holds up rendering, and is cached by the browser. It does nothing for ordinary visits, and for AI visits it sends one small beacon in the background, so the page carries on loading while the data is delivered.
Yes. Connecting a Google Analytics 4 property lets AnswerixAI sync AI-sourced sessions per landing page every day, starting with 90 days of history. That data powers a list of high-value pages that AI assistants send no visitors to. Google Analytics and snippet figures are kept separate and never added together.
A nightly check reads your Google Analytics data for the last 28 days and ranks pages by revenue, orders, conversions or, when none are reported, engagement. Pages in your top 30% with at least ten sessions but no AI-referred visit are listed, each marked cited, not cited despite a targeting prompt, or not targeted at all.
Pick the last 24 hours, 7, 30 or 90 days, all time or a custom range. Every range except all time is compared with the previous period of the same length. The recent visits log can be searched by URL or path and filtered by platform, and up to 1,000 matching visits can be exported to CSV.
AI Traffic Analytics is included on the Starter, Growth and Business plans, and every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. Starter and Growth can connect one Google Analytics property and Business up to five. The same traffic figures are also available to AI agents through the AnswerixAI API and MCP server.
Visibility shows whether AI answers mention and cite your brand. Referral traffic shows whether those answers send people to your site, and which pages they land on. Together they tell you which citations earn clicks, which pages deserve updates first, and whether your AI search work is producing visits and not just mentions.
A visit is recognised only when the browser passes an AI referrer or the link carries a utm_source that names an AI assistant. If an assistant opens your link with neither, the visit looks like any other and is not recorded as AI traffic.
